Mary Ann Dowd, 77, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital.
She was born August 13, 1947, in St. Louis, the daughter of Vincent and Harriet (Gittemeier) Arnold.
A 1965 graduate of Incarnate Word Academy in St. Louis, Mary attended Lincoln University to study accounting.
She was united in marriage on April 2, 1966, in Wichita Falls, Texas to Darrell Ray Dowd who survives of the home.
She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.
Mary worked as an accounting tech for the federal government, retiring in 2012.
Mary liked playing Granny Basketball, Silver Sneakers and coached boys’ and girls’ soccer at YMCA. She liked watching Kansas City Chiefs Football and St. Louis Cardinals Baseball, a member of Relay for Life for American Cancer Society and Walnut Tree Farm, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Darrell; three children, Richard Ray (Kimberly) Dowd, Holts Summit, Theresa Ann (Roger) Doggett, Henley, James Michael Dowd (fiancé Amber Blair); four grandchildren, Hannah (James) Bishop, Evan Doggett, Nicole Dowd and Madison Vaughn; one great-grandchild due in January 2025; siblings, Thomas (Diane) Arnold, St. Charles, Marlene (Rich) Herman, Old Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be 8:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Trimble Funeral Homes – Jefferson City.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2024, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki, VG officiating.
Burial will be in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society.
