Mary Antonia Schwarzer, 97, of Jefferson City, died Monday, August 11, 2014, at St. Joseph Bluffs surrounded by her family.
She was born on February 1, 1917, in Cole County, Missouri, the daughter of the late Adolph Frank and Catherine Ann (Poetker) Veit.
She was united in marriage on October 21, 1941, in Jefferson City, to Frank Joseph Schwarzer who preceded her in death on December 24, 1996.
Mary was a homemaker most of her life and had worked as a nurses aide for St. Mary's Hospital from 1938-1945.
She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, St. Joseph Ladies Sodality, Senior Citizens of St. Joseph Cathedral, and St. Martin Catholic Church Club 50.
Mary enjoyed sewing, quilting, needle point, gardening, and baking cookies for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include: six children, Dorothy (Donald) Carel, Jefferson City; Karen (Bill) Hentges, Jefferson City; Linda (Roger) Sandbothe, Powder Springs, Ga.; Paul (Sharon) Schwarzer, Holts Summit; Carl (Judy) Schwarzer, Jefferson City; James (Deborah) Schwarzer, Jefferson City; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Lillian Veit, St. Martins; Rose Schwarzer, Jefferson City; and a special family friend, Ruth Wilbers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank; two great-grandchildren, Megan and Alexandra Patterson; a sister, Roseanna Veit; and two brothers, Paul Veit and Herman Veit.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2014, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki officiating.
Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4:30-8 p.m. Friday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m.
