Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Payne

October 16, 1932 ~ September 18, 2020
She was born October 16, 1932, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the daughter of the late Alphonse and Christine (Dulle) Distler.
Beth was a 1950 graduate of St. Peter High School.
She was united in marriage on November 14, 1953, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City to Joseph “Joe” Payne who survives at the home. Beth was excited and proud that they would have been celebrating their 67th wedding anniversary this November.
Beth worked as a secretary for Stockard and Stockard Law Firm, worked for the Missouri Legislature, and worked for the Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education retiring August 1, 1991, as a Program Specialist.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and LaLeche Chapter of the Immaculata Club, and was a volunteer at the Samaritan Center and the Well Baby Clinic. Beth enjoyed tutoring children, collecting Lee Middleton Baby Dolls and Swarovski Crystal, playing cards especially pinochle, attending church chicken dinners, staying up-to-date on the latest technology, and most of all cheering for all Notre Dame sports.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Payne, Jefferson City; two children, Debbie (Warren) Mayes, St. Louis; Stan (Dianna) Payne, Lohman; three grandchildren, Chris Payne (James Williams), Whitnie (Nick) Gordanier, Ryan White; and three great-grandchildren, Lillian Gordanier, Adelyn Gordanier, and Brynlynn Gordanier.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Dorothy Burd; and three brothers, Frank, Louis, and Ted Distler.
Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Donald Antweiler officiating. The service will be live streamed for those who wish to watch from home. The link can be found on Beth’s obituary page under Tribute Wall at www.dulletrimble.com.
The general public is welcome to attend the services while following social distancing guidelines. Facial coverings are required while in attendance.
Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, or to the American Heart Association.

I always enjoyed visiting with Beth. I’ve missed seeing her at Mass on the left front part of church. She was a great lady and a good friend to many. She will be missed.
Beth was the best Mother-in-law, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and friend we could ask for. She took us in and loved us unconditionally. She was selfless, funny, and always kind. We loved her dearly. She never left our homes or hung up the phone without saying “I love you.” She will always be in our memories and hearts! Rest In Peace beautiful lady.
I remember Beth’s beautiful crystal collection. I also remember decorating her Christmas tree and the lovely ornaments she had. She was a beautiful woman. My prayers are with Joe, Debbie, and Stan and the whole family. Alice Fast
