Mary Helen Blackman
October 24, 1924 ~ June 19, 2003
She was born in Columbia to John Beal Zaring and Naomi Ruth Watts Zaring. She was married on June 27, 1947 in Columbia to Charles Edward Blackman who died on June 19, 1999. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, John and Martha Blackman, St. Louis; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Elmer Joseph Keilholz, Chamois; and grandsons, Reed, Andrew, and Brady Blackman. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Leona Greenwood, Beulah Zaring, and Marguerite Hunt; and brothers, James, Charles, and Lemuel Zaring. She was a teacher for twenty-five years in Fredericktown, Ashland, Jefferson City, and Warsaw. She was a realtor with Capital Realty in Jefferson City for several years, and later owned the Mary Blackman Realty Company in Warsaw until retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Fredericktown; Million Dollar Sales Club in real estate; and Beta Sigma Phi. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association, 1121 Business Loop 70 East, Columbia, MO 65201; or to the American Parkinson Disease Association, Box 8111, 660 South Euclid Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63110. She was a graduate of Hickman High School, Columbia; recieved the Associate of Arts degree from Christian College, Columbia; and was awarded the Bachelor of Science in Education degree from the University of Missouri.
