Mary Jane Buehler, 90, of Jefferson City passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026, peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 25, 1935, in Loose Creek, Missouri to Henry Sr. and Julia (Grefrath) Wingrath.

She graduated from Fatima High School and worked at Kroger’s grocery store. It was while working at Kroger’s that she met the love of her life, Harold Buehler. Harold said that after the first date, they just knew that they were meant to share a life together. They were married on December 27, 1958, in Loose Creek, MO.

Mary Jane and Harold started their family right away, with Mary Jane devoting her life to raising their six children, while Harold worked to support the family. For several years, Mary Jane babysat other children in their home. She then spent many years volunteering as a teacher’s aide at Immaculate Conception School, including many years helping in her daughter Julie’s kindergarten class. Mary Jane also spent many years volunteering at the Samaritan Center.

Mary Jane and Harold together spent their entire marriage teaching their kids the values of commitment to each other and to God, always leaning on their strong faith. Through all the ups and downs of life, their deep love of each other was a beautiful example of marital commitment. Mary Jane endured several years of medical issues, but Harold was steadfast in his devotion and care of her in their home. In turn, Mary Jane expressed her gratitude and love for him every day.

Mary Jane dearly loved family gatherings and she continually expressed her love to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She always believed God had blessed her and Harold with the best family. Mary Jane and Harold prayed daily together for these family members, friends, and anyone who had a specific prayer request.

Mary Jane leaves behind a legacy of fierce devotion to her husband, serving others, endless love of family, and above all, an unwavering faith in God.

Those left to mourn her passing are her husband of nearly 68 years, Harold; three daughters: Carol (Gene) Hall, Wildwood, MO; Lisa (Jim) Wildhaber, Wardsville, MO; Julie (Chad) Sooter, Holts Summit, MO; three sons: Keith (Mary) Buehler, Bethany, OK; Tom (Shelly) Buehler, Louisburg, Kansas; and Steve (Cindy) Buehler, O’Fallon, MO; a nephew who was like a son, Greg Wingrath, Jefferson City, MO; 20 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Sr. and Julia Wingrath; one brother, Henry Wingrath, Jr.; one sister, Frances Wingrath; and one grandson, Matthew Buehler.
