Mary Rose McKim

Mary Rose McKim, 90, of Jefferson City passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born December 8, 1935 in Jefferson City to the late Harry and Rosemary (Schulte) Fields.  Mary valued her educational opportunities attending Lincoln University and received both Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Western Illinois University.  Mary had been employed as a Social Worker for the State of Missouri before retirement. 

On February 11, 1956, Mary married Malcolm McKim at St. Peter Catholic Church.  Malcolm passed away unexpectedly in 1966, leaving Mary to raise a young family of three children.  An incredibly strong independent woman, Mary became the sole provider making sure her children came first.

Whether it was taking family camping trips or hiking the Grand Canyon at the age of 68, Mary loved being outdoors and teaching her kids the value of nature. 

Survivors include her children, Cynthia Schram of Jefferson City, Malcolm  (Angela) McKim of Tuscumbia, AL, James McKim of Jefferson City, five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.  She was further preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Catherine and two brothers, William and Harold Fields.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 2, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 4618 Henwick Dr. Jefferson City. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. 

Memorials may be directed to the National Parks Association.
