Mary Lou Wekenborg, age 90, of Linn, formerly of Jefferson City for many years, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Stonebridge Senior Living in Owensville, Missouri surrounded by her family.

She was born June 22, 1933, in Cole County, Missouri, the daughter of John Herman and Mathilda Sophia (Hake) Krummen

Mary Lou was united in marriage on July 17, 1954, in Jefferson City, to Gerald Sylvester Wekenborg who preceded her in death on October 11, 1994.

She worked as an Administrative Fiscal Assistant for Missouri State Emergency Management from 1963 till her retirement on June 30, 1995.

Mary Lou was a member of St. George Catholic Church in Linn and was a former member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City.  She was also a member of the Ladies Sodality.  Mary Lou was very talented at crocheting and hand stitching sequence calendars.

Survivors include her children, Cindy (Jeff) Monroe and Rick Wekenborg; two grandchildren, Jared (Monica) Monroe, Jordan Monroe; three great-grandchildren, Kayden Monroe, Sophia Monroe, and Easton Monroe; brother, Ralph (Peggy) Krummen, Minneapolis, KS; and two sisters-in-law, Lucille Krummen, Jefferson City; and Clara Bolden, Jefferson City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; daughter, Karen Wekenborg; son Douglas Wekenborg; four brothers, Dave, James, Omer, and Delbert Krummen; and two sisters, Venita Koelling and Erma Krummen.

Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, November 26, 2023, at Trimble Funeral Homes in Jefferson City with a prayer service at 2:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City, with the Rev. Colin Franklin officiating.

Burial will be in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to St. George Catholic Church or St. Peter Catholic Church.
