A visitation service celebrating the life of Michael P. Voiles, 66, of Jefferson City will be held from 1 – 4 p.m., Sunday, November 6, 2022, at Trimble Funeral Homes - Jefferson City. 

Mike passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022, from complications after a five-year battle with cancer.   “Come to me all that are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” – Matthew 11:28-30

He was born August 2, 1956, in Kansas City, Missouri to Roy W. and Hildegard (Krenner) Voiles.

After graduating from Downers Grove High School in Downers Grove, IL, Mike earned a Bachelor of Science in business from the University of Missouri-Columbia and Lincoln University, a CPA, and a CPCU insurance designation.  He was most recently the Senior Director of Life Services and Brokerage for Missouri Farm Bureau.

Mike had a passion for insurance starting his career at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.  He served on multiple boards including American Ag, the Missouri Insurance Coalition, the Missouri Guarantee Association, Missouri Property Insurance Placement Facility, and the Missouri Auto Insurance Plan. Mike was awarded the “Friend of Agriculture” Award from the Missouri Farm Bureau and retired on December 31, 2021, after dedicating 42 years to Missouri Farm Bureau.

Mike and Beckie have been long-time residents of Jefferson City.  Mike was a warm and accommodating person who people valued for his advice and humor.   Mike was a great encourager, inspirer, and servant for his family and the community, and he will be sorely missed.

Mike is survived by his wife of 45 years, Rebecca “Beckie” S. (Kirby) Voiles; his siblings, Cathi (Steve “Pinky”) Williams of Aquilla, Texas; Chase (Judy) Voiles, Gladstone, Missouri; and Carrie (Voiles) Barclay, Granville, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Debbie (Tim) Butler, Matthews, North Carolina; eight wonderful nieces and nephews, Tony Melton, Readus Melton, Danny Melton, Joseph Barclay, John Barclay, Holly (Martyn) Smith, Kristina (Phil) Bellin, and Jaclyn (Brett) Alter; and seven special great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his parents; his in-laws Jim and Rose Kirby, a brother-in-law, Charles “Chuck” Barclay; and a niece, Christine Page.

The family would like to thank the Goldschmidt Cancer Center staff and, Dr. Scott A. Anderson, Brandi Kincaid, Tim and Theresa for all their love and care.   Memorials are suggested to the Goldschmidt Cancer Center, 1432 Southwest Blvd, Jefferson City, MO  65109, or for the Family Education Fund, (checks payable to Beckie Voiles).

  3. Mike was a wonderful guy, always had a smile on his face and he and Beckie were two people that Mary and I would look forward to seeing at Farm Bureau events. Mike was also a wealth of insurance knowledge and I never hesitated to ask his advice on an issue. Mike will certainly be missed.

  5. I’ll always remember Mike as a great Farm Bureau friend, we shared many common interests so there was always a topic to discuss. He will be missed .

  6. Mike was a great guy who was dedicated to his work for Farm Bureau, Beckie and his family and his friends. Always had a smile on his face. He was also a great Mizzou Tiger fan and I have many fond memories of he and Beckie at those games. Rest in Peace friend. You will be missed greatly.

Mike was a dear man, a true gentleman, an asset to Missouri Farm Bureau and a great friend during the 35 years he and I worked together.
