Nelson John Nellie Vincent, 91, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, September 22, 2007, at University Hospital & Clinics, Columbia. He was born on July 31, 1916, in Bonnots Mill, MO, the son of Edward and Henrietta Steiferman Vincent. He was married on May 4, 1939, in Jefferson City to Lovella Agnes Natsch who preceded him in death on Feb. 26, 1998. Mr. Vincent was a 1934 graduate of St. Peter High School where he served as captain of the first football team. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II where he served as Yeoman First Class. He was employed with Jefferson City Coca Cola Bottling Co. until his induction into the Navy in 1944; then worked for Cole County Abstract Company; served as City Collector from 1955 to 1961; and owned Nelson Vincent Insurance Agency until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church where he served on the Parish Council and Community Advisory Board; St. Peter Cemetery Association; and Perpetual Adoration from its inception. He was a frequent worshipper and lector at the Carmelite Monastery. He was a volunteer and member of the board at Samaritan Center from its inception; and member of the board at Home Savings Bank. He was a member of the Dan C. Coppin Fourth Degree Assembly, Knights of Columbus; Helias High School Booster Club; Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce; American Legion Post 5; Vitae Caring Foundation; fifty year member of Jefferson City Host Lions Club; and past president of the Jefferson City Jaycees. He was honored by St. Peter Catholic Church and the Samaritan Center for his many years of dedication and service to both organizations. Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Carole Jean and Kip Salmon, Sedalia, MO; Cheri and Dan Brune, Jefferson City; and Lori and Mike Kempker, Jefferson City; three sons and their wives, Greg and Debbie Vincent, Medina, OH; Gary and Lynn Vincent, St. Louis; and Larry and Trish Vincent, Jefferson City; sixteen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Edgar E. Vincent. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Donald W. Lammers officiating. Entombment with military honors will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Vogelweid Learning Center, 116 Broadway, Jefferson City, MO 65101; Samaritan Center, 1310 E.
