Norma Jean Duncan, 86, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born March 11, 1935, in Jefferson City, the daughter of Louis Stephen and Esta Venita (Hendricks) Evers.

She was married on October 11, 1952, at St. Peter Catholic Church to Bob L. Duncan, who preceded her in death on April 21, 2004.

Norma retired after twenty-two years as an Auditor for the Missouri Department of Revenue, retiring January 4, 1993.

She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph and a life member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 1003.

Norma actively supported her children through Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and DeMolay. She continued to be equally supportive of her grandchildren through their personal endeavors. She loved her flower gardens and looked forward to her monthly luncheons with her family. She and her husband were RVers-snowbirds traveling across the United States but found Destin, Florida, their favorite.

Survivors include three children, Catherine Coil (Alan Carroll), Jefferson City; Michael (Debbie) Duncan, Jefferson City; and Patrick Duncan, Jefferson City; a son-in-law, Dr. James Howard, Roseville, California; ten grandchildren, Becky Chapman, Krissy Chapman, Tonya Coil-Sapp, Tara (Chris) Ronimous, Robert Duncan, Ross (Emily) Duncan, Jennifer Howard, Bradley Howard, Kasey (Jeff) Lansford, and Jessica Duncan; fifteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Agnes Powell, Holts Summit; and a sister-in-law, Susan Evers, Holts Summit.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Mary Chapman and Bobbie Howard; three brothers, Clarence “Sonny” Evers, Jim Evers, and Roger Evers; and a brother-in-law, Herbert Powell.

Visitation will be 10-11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Louis M. Nelen officiating.

Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Memorials are suggested to Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1003 or to the Wounded Warrior Project.

  3. So sorry to hear of Norma’s passing. I have great memories of taking her and my mother, Joan Roark, to Boonville gambling. Oh how I wish I could have taken those ladies one more time.
