Patrick Henry Steele, Sr., 82, of Westphalia, passed away Monday, February 10, 2025, at his residence.

He was born May 17, 1942, in West Chester, Pennsylvania, the son of Harold Steele and Essie Dawsey. He was raised by the Tigue Family of West Chester, PA on a dairy farm.

Patrick served in the United States Navy.

He was united in marriage on April 20, 1985, in Westphalia to Anne Hilkemeyer who survives at the home.

Patrick worked as a Historical Preservation Manager for various communities including the City of Independence retiring in 2004. He later served as Osage County Clerk until 2018.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia, life member of the Westphalia Historical Society, and a member of the Westphalia Knights of Columbus. Patrick enjoyed gardening, caring for his pets, and learning about historical buildings and restoration projects.

Survivors include his wife, Anne Steele, Westphalia; his son, Patrick (Dawn) Steele, Jr., Menasha, WI; five grandchildren, Bridget Maloney (Donovan Houtler), Ashlee Steele (Ryan Hinz), Colin Steele (fiancé Arista Franklin), Aaron Steele, Jackob Steele; and a great-grandson, Russell Hinz.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Patricia Melicher (Patrick’s twin); and Mary McKelvey.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia with the Rev. Dylan Schrader and the Rev. Mark Smith, concelebrating.

Burial with military honors will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to Masses.
