Paul David Juggy Schleer, Sr., 70, of Jefferson City, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia. He was born on February 12, 1933 in Jefferson City, the son of Paul Ferdinand Schleer and Victoria Inez Stiffler Schleer. He was married on April 30, 1955 in Jefferson City to Irma Mae Kolb who died on March 29, 2000. Mr. Schleer was a 1951 graduate of St. Peter High School and a 1959 graduate of the University of Missouri. Survivors include two sons, Paul David Schleer, Jr., Warrensburg; and Mark J. Schleer, Jefferson City; four daughters and sonsin-law, Cathy and Gary Long, Jefferson City; Jean and Todd Poe, Surprise, Arizona; Mary and Bruce Davis, Columbia; and Victoria and Sam McElwaine, Jefferson City; twelve grandchildren; one sister and her husband, Gail Ann and Mike Kaihani, Dallas, Texas; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Betty Kolb, Margaret Kolb, Mary Ann Kolb, Paul and Carmen Kolb, Herb and Mary Anna Kolb, Grace Mary and Carmine Vignola, and Robert and Ann Kolb. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; and three brothers-in-law, James Kolb, Cletus Kolb, and Charles Kolb. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Marion J. Makarewicz and Msgr. Charles H. Patterson officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Helias Foundation, POB 694, Jefferson City, MO 65102-0694; Boone Hospital Center, 1600 E. He owned and operated Schleer Brothers Hardware from 1959 to 1983. He was employed with the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency from 1983 until retiring in 1998 as Deputy Director. Following retirement he was a consultant with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. He also served from 1975 to 1982 as Presiding Judge of Cole County. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Schleer was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; Dan C. Coppin Fourth Degree Assembly, Knights of Columbus; past Grand Knight and past Faithful Navigator of Helias Council 1054, Knights of Columbus, where he served as District Deputy, State Youth Chairman, and for 25 years on the building board. He was past treasurer of the Evening Lions Club; vice-president of the Missouri Society of the Sons of the American Revolution and past president of the Christopher Casey Chapter; was first co-chair of Helias Foundation; served on the Jefferson City Charter Commission; was a long-time blood donor with the American Red Cross; and was an active volunteer with Meals-on-Wheels. He served on the Missouri River Home Health Board; Missouri Association of Counties; and was a past president of the Immaculate Conception Home and School Association and Helias Home and School Association.
