Paul Stanley Zyla, 80, of Jefferson City, died Monday, April 29, 2002, at his residence. He was born on July 15, 1921 in Danville, Illinois, the son of Joseph Zyla and Clara Edna Stansbury Zyla. He was married on November 15, 1942 in Jefferson City to Vivian Mildred Hickman who survives at the home. Services will be held at 12 noon on Friday at First Christian Church. The Rev. Lawrence A. Veatch will officiate. Military honors will be conducted at the church. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1013, Columbia, MO 65205; or to Community Hospices of America, 3600 I-70 Drive SE, Columbia, MO 65201. Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was employed as a parts manager for various Chrysler dealerships in Michigan, California, and Missouri before retiring in 1975 as a purchasing agent for the State of Missouri. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Christian Church; Disabled American Veterans; and Fraternal Order of Eagles. Other survivors include four daughters, Sharon E. Zyla, Denise C. Thoenen, and Debbie A. Becker, all of Jefferson City; and Paula S. Sedlock, Tracy, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Newman, Sun City, California; and two brothers, Lawrence Zyla, Nashville, Tennessee; and Robert Zyla, Romeo, Michigan.
