Pauline Kuntz 74, of Jefferson City passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024 surrounded by family. Her family will fondly remember her as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, an avid traveler, and a lover of theater, music, and dance.
Born in Mexico, MO to the late Chester and Edith (Woodward) Carter, Pauline grew up in Centralia, MO and was a graduate of Centralia High School. She went on to earn a B.S. in Business Administration from Lincoln University. Her career included work for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and SEMA. Because of her passion for the arts and theatre, she started 5-6-7-8 Dancenter in Jefferson City where she was co-owner and business manager.
Never one to sit at home, Pauline was involved in many different singing and acting venues, both as a performer and a fan. She performed with Cantorum, TMI, the Missouri Music Makers, Little Theater, and the Capital City Players. She shared her love of theater with her family and friends, attending shows around Jefferson City and at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir each week.
On May 23, 1981, Pauline married Richard ‘Rick’ Kuntz at First Christian Church, Jefferson City. They enjoyed traveling, including overseas trips to Europe and road trips throughout the United States to spend time with family, visit landmarks, and see covered bridges. Whether it was playing Uno or Wii or simply connecting over FaceTime, Pauline loved her grandchildren. She instilled in them her competitive spirit in the many games they played together.
Survivors include her husband, Rick of Jefferson City, four sons; Raymond (Sherri) of Ashland, MO, Kristopher (Christa) of El Paso, TX, Brad (Amanda) of Sturgeon Bay, WI, Eric (Katie) of St. Charles, MO; eight grandchildren; Mason, Kaylee, Blake, Megan, Will, Ariel, Christopher, Ke’hlani; and two brothers, Johnny (Georgann) Carter of Washington, MO, Robert (Phyllis) Carter of St. Peters, MO and numerous nieces and nephews. Pauline was further preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Rest in Peace Pauline!
Great memories from our high school days.
Pauline was an especially kind member of our Centralia High School class (‘68). The obituary describes an amazing life of special interests and family. Best thoughts to her family and close friends.
Rick and Family,
I’m so sorry for your loss. Pauline was a wonderful person. I enjoyed working with her at DNR – and enjoying some social time in our younger days.
Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Sorry for your loss Rick. I worked with Pauline for many years. Always a pleasure to work with her, someone who knew what she was doing. We also shared a birthday, however I was in about the eighth grade when she was born. Prayers for you and your family.

We will miss our dear sister. Pauline, was the baby of our family, but in later years she was the one who kept us all informed of the many marriages, births and deaths. She could light up a room with her smile. Prayers for Rick and their sons and families. We will miss her so much.
