Phyllis Jean Caudle, 76, of Hallsville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at her residence.

She was born on September 1, 1949, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Raymond William and Audrey Louise (Stivick) McCann.

A 1967 graduate of Jefferson City High School, Phyllis received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Central Methodist College.

Phyllis was a teacher in earlier years in North Callaway High School and Sturgeon High School, teaching English and Spanish.  Later, she worked for the State of Missouri Employment Security in Columbia and then the State of Missouri Division of Unemployment in Jefferson City as an administrative assistant.

Phyllis was a gentle and loving lady.  Her greatest joy was being with her daughter, Christy and granddaughter, Brianna.  She enjoyed traveling, especially short-day trips, eating out, and antiquing. A lover of music, she collected many albums.  Phyllis also loved cats and had many favorites during her life.  One of the fondest memories of Phyllis was her desire to make sure everyone had an Easter basket on Easter Sunday, everyone had Christmas gifts on Christmas morning, and birthdays were celebrated with just the right gift.

Survivors include her daughter, Christine Elizabeth Caudle, Columbia; a granddaughter, Brianna Bradshaw; a sister-in-law, Linda (Dennis) Caudle, Columbia; two step children, Casey Caudle and Tonya (Heather) Caudle-Paul, all of Columbia; a half daughter, Candace Caudle, Columbia; and step siblings, Gary (Cyndy) Schnieders, Jefferson City; Sam (Sally) Schnieders, Jefferson City; Julie (Mark) Mercurio, Lake Ozarks; Sue (Gerry) Frank, Lake Villa, Illinois; and Triscia (Charles) Faherty, Jefferson City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, Mary Kathleen “Katie” McCann, her brother, David McCann, and a lifelong companion, Steven Wayne Caudle.

Visitation will be 12:00-1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Trimble Funeral Homes, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 1:00 p.m. with Chaplain Russ Pflasterer officiating.

Burial will be in Owensville City Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. following the Celebration of Life.
