Raymond Shoop, Jr. 80, of Jefferson City, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at St. Marys Health Center. He was born on August 24, 1923, in Jefferson City, the son of Raymond Shoop, Sr. and May Creel Shoop. He was married November 17, 1945 in Verdun, France to Christiane Marie Riss who survives at the home. Other survivors include one son, Larry Shoop, Columbus, Georgia; one sister, Virginia Knox, New Bloomfield; and a niece, Charlet Quay, New Bloomfield. He was preceded in death by one sister, Lucille Kirby. The funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2004, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with the Rev. David W. Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:00-1:00 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2004, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Jefferson City. Memorials are suggested to the Unity Church of Peace, 5400 W. Business 50, Jefferson City, MO 65109 or donors choice. He was employed for 32 years with the Missouri Highway Department as a chemist and later as Director of the Chemical Laboratory in Jefferson City. Mr. Shoop was a member of the Unity Church of Peace. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II.
