Dinzel Eugene Webb, age 67, of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2020.

Dinzel was born October 22, 1953, in Dumas, Texas, son of Calvin Eugene and Eupha Dell (Gillentine) Webb.

On May 27, 1977, Dinzel was united in marriage to Diane Kay Marriott at Gravois Mills Baptist Church.

Dinzel gave his heart to Jesus at a young age and believed God had called him to ministry of some kind. He devoted his life to serving the Lord Jesus Christ by teaching Sunday School, leading the music, driving the church bus, witnessing and ministering to folks in various ways.

In January of 1982, he was ordained as a Deacon at Gravois Mills Baptist Church, serving there for 7 years. In 1988, he knew God was calling him to preach the gospel. After being licensed and ordained in 1989 he served as Pastor at First Baptist Church, Macks Creek, First Baptist Church, Stover and Russellville Baptist Church.

He also served as Interim Pastor at Edmonson Baptist Church, Solid Rock Church, Boonville and First Baptist Church, Sunrise Beach. During his ministry he, sometimes with his family, was privileged to visit Belarus, Russia, Romania, and El Salvador where he preached God’s Word, ministered to people, and made lifelong friends. Dinzel and his wife, Diane, hosted and ministered to international students through the Baptist Collegiate Ministry at Lincoln University in Jefferson City.

He also participated in summer mission trips with the Russellville Baptist Church youth and leaders as a part of World Changers, Sports Crusaders and 3MT, helping people in local communities. On Tuesdays, without fail before Covid, you could find him guitar in hand with the Preschoolers at the Russellville Elementary.

Dinzel was a loving husband, father, and grandpa who spent as much time as possible with his family. One of the many gifts that he passed along to his sons, friends and numerous children was the love of music. He encouraged his sons in their musical pursuits and set an example by playing along with them as they grew and developed their talents. He was known for buying harmonicas for his grandchildren as well as other children in his life.

Dinzel is survived by his wife of 43 years, Diane; two sons, Travis Webb and wife Ashley of Holden, MO, Derek Webb and wife Gretchen of Lancaster, PA; four grandchildren: Kallen, Kenna, Elsie and Noella Webb; four sisters: Audine McBeth and husband Dennis of Winters, TX; Rena Webb of St. Joseph, MO; Sharla Whitsitt and husband John of Kansas City, MO; and Gaylena Teckemeyer and husband Roy of Slater, MO; along with several nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Evan Doran Webb and his sisters Delda Fay Webb and Sarah Ann Wilson.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2020, at Russellville Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be announced at a late time.

Private burial will be at Versailles City Cemetery.

  1. I am so sorry to hear of Dinzel’s passing. I never told him this but he is the reason I started worshiping again! When Becca was born and he came to the hospital and prayed with me he brought me back! He will be missed! Praying for you guys!

  2. I am so sorry to see the obit in today’s paper of Rev. Dinzel’s death. It was always a delight to see him at Scrivner’s cafe. A truly nice man. Our sincere sympathies to his family and congregation.

  3. We at St. Micheal Parish extend our condolences to his family, friends and the Russellville Baptist congregations. We are saddened by the news of his passing. Our prayers are with you.

  4. Diane and family, I am so sorry for your loss. He was truly a nice man and will be missed by so many. My prayers are with you and your sons.

  5. My family met Denzil in 2008 when he was driving the Oat’s bus. He drove my Mom to the Lake for Kidney dialysis three days a week. When she passed, he performed her funeral service. He made my Mom’s ride back and forth really special for her, always kidding and joking back and forth. He was one special person that I am forever grateful to know. Prayers to his family.

  6. I knew him when we were teenagers ,he was a mature, honest, decent human being. Smart, thoughtful, funny.

  7. I was living away from here when Dinzel pastored at Macks Creek, but I saw him often when I came home to visit and was impressed by his heart for serving the Lord. After he left, I’d see him now and then over the years and he was the same friendly guy. I’ll always remember his big smile and funny laugh. Diane and family, I’m praying for you. You haven’t lost Dinzel, you know right where he is, and praise God you’ll see him again.

  8. He took me my mom and sister to go see my dad and I am so sorry for your loss and your family is in my prayers

  9. So sorry for this family’s loss. I had the pleasure of helping at the Food Bank with Rev. Webb, and pray for strength to this family at this difficult time. Fern and Ray Kirchner

  10. Webb family, we certainly are praying for you. Denzil was on the committee when Russell was called here as DOM in 2000. Few pastors have had the compassion, love and drive as Denzil; he will be missed. Sending love and prayers-until we all get HOME! Russell and Susie Adams, Buffalo MO

  11. A servant’s heart and a love for people, especially children and youth, is what comes to mind as I think of Dinzel. I will always remember the years at children’s camp. My prayers are with Diane and the family. “Absent from the body, present with the Lord.” -Rev. Glen Golden-

  12. There just aren’t enough words to say about this man. Without him (and his wife, Diane), I certainly wouldn’t have the faith that I do today. They pretty much helped raise me as a preteen and teen, or at least it feels like it, as I was always at youth events at church. He had such a good heart, a love for God, and a laugh you could hear 5 counties away. He was an encourager who helped me gained confidence to sing and play. I am so glad we got to reconnect over the last few years. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Diane, Travis, Derek, and families. Dinzel, you will be missed.

  13. We are so sorry to hear of Dinzel’s passing. There is great comfort in knowing he is rejoicing with God now, but we know he will be so missed here.

  14. We met Dinzel at Ellis Fischell while our daughter was having cancer surgery. He was so fun to talk with and we had a big ole prayer meeting right there! He told us he was undergoing Prostate Cancer treatments and that helped make our decision to undergo a prostatectomy for my husband’s cancer. It was a divine appointment which we will never forget! Loved the man and his love of family and God! Lord bless his precious family.

  15. I was so sorry to hear of Dinzel’s passing, but took comfort in his relationship with Jesus, thereby knowing he is in the Lords hands. I pray that Diane and the family will be consoled by this memory that Dinzel,s faith has left behind. You will be missed at the cemetery meetings that you blessed with prayer along with cutting brush and whipping the weeds, with a smile on your face. Larry Wittrock and family
