Richard Louis Schnieders, 88, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital.

He was born May 23, 1930, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Clem and Carolina (Henke) Schnieders.

He was united in marriage on April 27, 1984, in Jefferson City, to Vera Irene Lewis who preceded him in death on January 15, 2016.

Richard was employed at International Shoe Factory for 22 years until the factory closed in 1970. He later worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections for 25 years from 1970-1995.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. His special interests was purple martins. He had numerous martin houses and even furnished them with nesting materials.

Survivors include one son, Denny (Dottie) McCubbin, Holts Summit; two daughters, Glenda (Terry) Bremer, Wentzville; Gloria (Charlie) Kennedy, Scotts Bluff, Neb; five grandchildren, Kevin (Trisha) McCubbin, Keith (Madeline) McCubbin, Tricia (Chad) Johnston, Cassandra Bremer, Alena Kennedy; four great-grandchildren, Mya McCubbin, Cadence McCubbin, Brantley McCubbin, Gavin Johnston; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Schnieders, Helen Schnieders, Marilyn Schnieders; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; infant twin siblings, Martha and Martin; three brothers, Raymond, Alfred, and Walter Schnieders; three sisters, Marcella Scott, Catherine Heckman, Angeline Forck; two niece, Martha Haynes, Rosemary McKinnon; and four nephews, Kenny and Donald Scott, and Charles and Glen Schnieders.

Visitation will be Friday, 9:30-11:30 a.m., November 30, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, 11:30 a.m., November 30, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Geoffrey Brooke officiating.

Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
