Robert Newton “Bob” Burns, 79, of Holts Summit, passed away, Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at his residence.
He was born on February 1, 1939, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the late Newton Sylvester and Pauline Ann (Bax) Burns.
He was married on September 12, 1959 in Mary’s Home to Dolores Ann Morgan who preceded him in death on April 30, 2011. He was married on April 11, 2015 in Holts Summit to Coletta Susanna Rogers, who resides at the home.
Robert worked over thirty years as a carpenter for Associated Building Centers. In addition, Robert farmed all his life.
He attended St. Andrews Catholic Church.
Robert, known to all as Bob, loved to tinker and could build anything, especially if it was mechanical. He was well known among his family for his carpentry skills, fixing anything mechanical and rebuilding lawn equipment. He loved being outdoors, living the life of a farmer that included raising cattle and going to farm auctions. Bob was an excellent singer and enjoyed country music. He loved his family and spending time together. His favorite times were spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Coletta; children, Bobby Burns, Holts Summit; Deann (Tony) Graziano, Holts Summit; Elizabeth (Steve) Norris, Lebanon; Patrick (Angela) Rogers, Columbia; Paul (Justine) Rogers, New Bloomfield; nine grandchildren, Brett (Michelle) Graziano, Nathan Graziano, Shannon Graziano, Lacey Graziano, Jaden Norris, Amelia Norris, Alexandria Rogers, Jordan Rogers, Chayton Rogers; three great-grandchildren, Khalil Graziano, Aubree Graziano, Kellan Graziano.; and siblings, Jim (Bonnie) Burns, Springfield, MO; John (Jane) Burns, Shawnee Mission, KS; Ruth (Otis) Woods, Holts Summit; Bill Burns, Holts Summit; Roger Burns, Bolívar, MO; and Patricia (Jackie) Burns, Columbia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dolores Burns; brothers, Thomas Jackson Burns, Floyd Burns, Raymond Burns; and sisters, Sylvia Burns, Mary Burns Lower, and Connie Burns Woodling.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2018, at St. Andrews Catholic Church with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2018, at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Holts Summit with Rev. Joseph S. Corel officiating.
Burial will be in St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery.
