Ronald Wayne Collins, 79, of Jefferson City, passed away Friday, August 9, 2019, at St. Mary’s Hospital from lung cancer complications.

He was born January 26, 1940, in Sikeston, Missouri, the son of the late Marvin Wayne and Hettie June (Lovewell) Collins.

He was a graduate of Caruthersville High School in 1958, Southeast Missouri State College with a bachelors degree in education and from Washington University in St. Louis with a masters degree in social work.

On August 27, 1960, Wayne married Ethel Marie Atkinson who preceded him in death. He was united in marriage on November 19, 1994, in California, Missouri to Carol Marie Keil who survives at the home.

Wayne served in the Army National Guard for nine years.

He was employed by the State of Missouri for 35 years in numerous positions until retiring as Assistant Director for the Office of Administration, Division of Facilities Management.

Wayne enjoyed fishing, traveling, visiting with friends and family, watching college sports, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Collins, Jefferson City; two children, Valerie Ann Collins (husband Mike Zimmer), of Linn; Darren Wayne Collins (wife Michelle) of Jefferson City; two step-sons, Jeffrey Todd Duvall (wife Angela) Jefferson City; Clinton Wade Cary (wife Amanda) of Salem; 10 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Wayne also had a special set of friends (some since 1984) from around the country who were his “Daytona family” meeting each June at Catalina Beach Club for vacation.

Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home followed by a Service of Remembrance at 6 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Central Missouri Ronald McDonald House.

Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
