Ruth Catherine Bax, 85, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital. She was born February 10, 1931, in Leopold, Missouri, the daughter of the late John Jacob and Emma Dena (Wilkins) Macke. She was united in marriage on June 2, 1954 in St. Anthony, Missouri to James John Bax who survives at the home. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph and volunteered for church banquets and Meals on Wheels. Ruth spent many happy days babysitting, was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, and loved flower gardening. Her two constants in her life were her faith and her husband of sixty-two years. Other survivors include five daughters, Patricia (Dale) Siebeneck, Jefferson City; Rita (Koelle) Barbour, St. Joseph; Mary Kay (Curtis) Young, Blackwater; Karen (James) Hughes, Lake Ozark; and Ann (Keith) Bertels, Jefferson City; two sons, Alan (Pamela) Bax, Wardsville; and Andrew Bax, Columbia; eleven grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and one brother, Benjamin (Rose) Macke, Toledo, Ohio. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Sr. Mary Ruth Macke, Clara Bax, Rachel Elfrink, and Barbara Hillman; and four brothers, John Macke, Vincent Macke, Lawrence Macke, and Ben Macke. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2016, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 3:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2016, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association, Mid-Mo Chapter, 2400 Bluff Creek Dr., Columbia, Missouri 65201 or a Charity of the Donor's Choice.
