Sarah Gertrude Scheppers, 87, of Westphalia, MO, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, at St. Marys Health Center. She was born on July 2, 1920, in Westphalia, the daughter of William L. and Elizabeth J. Meyerpeter Scheppers. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Westphalia and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia Senior Citizens, and Western Catholic Union. During her life she enjoyed being with family, friends, nieces, and nephews. She had a tremendous amount of faith. She enjoyed many kinds of needle work, and was a great care-giver and sharing individual with people and small children as well as long-time friends at the Westphalia Retirement Center. Sarah experienced more difficulties in life than the average person, but always maintained a positive attitude. Without realizing it, she taught her family the meaning of really being grateful for whatever blessings we may receive. Survivors include three sisters and one brother-in-law, Esther M. and Fred Bode, Jefferson City; Martha C. Krone, Westphalia; and Cecilia E. Player, Quincy, IL; ten nieces and nephews, Stephen F. and Kay Bode, St. Martins, MO; James R. and Mary Bode, Jefferson City; Elaine C. Bode-Oliver and Del Oliver, Jefferson City; Gerald L. and Laura Bode, Rockton, IL; Sharon E. Messimer, Houston, TX; Paul B. and Dianne Krone, Champaign, IL; John J. and Marsha Krone, Peoria, IL; Roger and Nancy Player, Quincy, IL; Mary Beth and Greg Young, Quincy, IL; and Cynthia and Rick Cavender, Pueblo, CO; many great nieces and nephews; and one great-great-niece. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers-in-law, James Krone and Stephen Player; and one nephew, Lloyd Player. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25th, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia, with the Rev. Philip M. Kane officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Westphalia. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Westphalia, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church, POB 116, Westphalia, MO 65085-0116.
