Stephen Henry Bexten, Jr., 67, of Westphalia, died Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at his residence.
He was born on September 2, 1942, in Westphalia, the son of the late Steven Anton and Gertrude Catherine Brendel Bexten. He was united in marriage on Aug. 20, 1960, in Westphalia, to Elizabeth Ann Holtschneider who survives at the home. Mr. Bexten was a carpenter all his life. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia and Knights of Columbus. He was a past volunteer fire fighter in Westphalia. Stephen was an avid fisherman, loved to feed birds, and enjoyed the outdoors.
Other survivors include: five children, William Bexten, Argyle; Kevin (Glenda) Bexten; Melody (Mike) Fowler; Sandy (Jerry) Haslag; Kimberly (Darien) Clough, all of Linn; six grandchildren, Brittany Bexten, Jesse Haslag, Abigail Clough, Destiny Haslag, Caden Clough, Colleen Clough; three sisters, Rose (Mike) Sonderman, Bridgeton, Mo; Margie (Jerry) Mebruer, Linn; Carole Stienbeck, Jefferson City; and one brother, Eddie (Marilyn) Bexten, Westphalia.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, December 7, 2009, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia, with the Rev. Mark S. Smith officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Westphalia, with a prayer service at 6 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church, P.O. Box 116 Westphalia, Mo 65085.
