Talton M. Abner, 63, of Jefferson City, died Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born on March 14, 1945, in Wardell, Mo., the son of William Penn and Louise Banks Abner. He was a graduate of Central High School in Hayti, Mo., and received the Master of Education degree from the University of Missouri. Mr. Abner was a long-time teacher, who started his teaching in the Kansas City, Missouri, Public School District and concluded it at Lincoln University where he taught Art and Social Studies. He was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Swift, Mo. Mr. Abner was a devoted friend and a kind and generous person who always tried to help his family and anyone else in need. He is survived by three sisters, Grace Nalls, Columbus, Ohio; Erma Abner, Kansas City, Mo.; and Louise Waller and her husband, Alton, of Kansas City, Mo.; and four special nephews, Clifford Nalls, Concord, Calif.; and Clayton Abner, Sundance Abner, and Khigh Abner, all of Kansas City, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ebbie Abner and Roger Abner; and one sister, Annis Abner. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with Pastor Spencer Barrett of Bethel AME Church in Kansas City, Mo., officiating. Burial will be 3 p.m. that afternoon at Brookings Cemetery in Raytown, Mo. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
