Thomas Lee Beal, 87, of Jefferson City passed away at his home on Saturday, September 21, 2024.

He was born October 7, 1936 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Charles and Eleanor (Acheson) Beal.  In 1954, Tom not only graduated from high school but enlisted in the United States Air Force.  He became a jet aircraft mechanic and crew chief on B-47 and B-57 bombers.  While stationed at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, KS, Tom married Patricia Sowell.  Tom continued his military career with the Kansas Air National Guard until 1963.  After graduating from Hutchinson Community College, Tom and Patricia moved to Jefferson City in November of 1977 when Tom was transferred as Customer Service Manager to the newly built Sears store.   In 1993, Tom retired from Sears after enjoying a 30 year career in management. He then worked three years at FAB Building Center and then as a Funeral Assistant at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home for over 14 years. Tom was a Mason for 60 years with Reno Lodge #124, AF&AM, Hutchinson, KS.

After 53 years of marriage, Patricia passed away on July 3, 2010 in Jefferson City.  On November 11, 2011, Tom married Charlotte Lewis Coffman at First United Methodist Church, Jefferson City.  He was a member of the church for 29 years and had been involved in the Odyssey Owls Sunday School Class. 

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte of Jefferson City, two sons; David (Kim) Beal of Jefferson City, Daniel (Dublon) Beal of Waukegan, Ill, step-daughter;  Tammy (Albert) Lindsay-Howell of Chattanooga, TN, seven grandchildren; Casey (Shelby)  Ariel, Tanner and Eleanor Beal, Charlotte Olivia Lindsay, Quinton Lindsay, Justin Hopkins, seven great grandchildren; Casey Jr, Riley, Leighton, Krista, Adeline, Taryn and Timothy, sister-in-law; Fran Beal of MN and brother-in-law; Bob Carroll of CA.  Tom was further preceded in death by a brother, G. Richard Beal, sister, Patti Sue Carroll and step-son, Timothy Hopkins.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Jefferson City.  A celebration of Tom’s life will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Trevor Dancer officiating.  Immediately following services, military honors will be conducted at church.

  1. Charlotte and family, My thoughts and prayers are with you. Tom was the first friend I made when I came to 1st UMC 3 years ago, and I really enjoyed his banter both in the Odessey Owls class and elsewhere in church. He was a fine Christian.

  2. My heart hurts! Tom, was one of my favorite guys I have ever met. When I went to work at Sears in 1980 he was the best friend! Tom was the sweetest gentlest man ever. Rest in Peace Tom

  6. Charlotte and family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you from Pennsylvania. My Dad and Tom went into the Air Force together from Pittsburgh. They stayed friends, married girls from Wichita and stayed friends. Charlotte was a gift from God, and was added to this friendship. David and Dan thank-you for bringing your Dad back one last time to Pa. I remember how hard it was saying good bye then , and breaks our hearts now. May he rest in peace.   7. I had the privilege of knowing Tom from Trimble Funeral Homes.. He was such a nice and caring man. He had a great smile and wonderful laugh. He was one of a kind. He was one of the “Best of the Best” not everyone earns that title. Deepest sympathies to the Beal Family..
