Thomas Walter Drake, 80, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018, at SSM Health St. Marys Hospital.
He was born November 9, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late John F. and Leona C. (Craig) Drake.
Tom served in the United States Air Force Reserve for six years. He was honorably discharged from the 910th Troop Carrier Group, Youngstown, OH, in 1965.
He was united in marriage on December 27, 1958, in Shaker Heights, Ohio to Barbara Jane Richards who survives at the home.
Tom began his career working for the Price Waterhouse accounting firm in Pittsburgh, PA where he earned his CPA certificate. He later worked for Houdaille Industries in Cleveland; OH, Buffalo, NY; Detroit, MI; Frankenmuth, MI and finally moving to Jefferson City in 1976. He ended his career with Central Electric Power Cooperative in Jefferson City as the Office Manager and Director of Finance.
He was a member of First Christian Church where he served as a deacon and treasurer. He was also a member of Jefferson City Rotary West, Jefferson City Country Club, Meadow Lake Acres Country Club, and was a coach for the Upward Youth Basketball League.
Tom enjoyed golfing, woodworking, and sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals and Ohio State University.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Drake, Jefferson City; three children, Wendy (Robert) Ruch, Madison, Alabama; Jeffrey (Mary) Drake, Tarrytown, New York; Brian (Shelly) Drake, Jefferson City; five grandchildren, Justin Braun, Steven Drake, Allyson Ruch, Erin Ruch, Maxim Drake; and two brothers, Dr. John C. (Ruth) Drake, Burlington, Vermont; and Dr. David F. (Nancy) Drake, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 12 noon Monday, March 26, 2018, at First Christian Church.
Funeral services will be 12 noon Monday March 26, 2018, at First Christian Church with Rev. Beau Underwood officiating.
Military honors will follow the service at the church.
