Tony Lee Barnes, 52, of Jefferson City, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2005, at his residence. He was born on March 3, 1953 in Mexico, MO, the son of Robert Lee and Ora LaVerne Sharon Barnes. His mother, Ora LaVerne Stocker, survives in Columbia, MO. He was married on Dec. 8, 1974 in Arlington Heights, IL, to Joni Lorrie Singer who survives at the home. Mr. Barnes was a 1971 graduate of Sunnydale Academy, Centralia, MO, and served with the United States Marine Corps. He was employed in earlier years with the Missouri Lottery; Missouri Office of Administration, and later as a telecommunications specialist with the Missouri Department of Transportation where he had served for the last fifteen years. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Dart Association; Central Missouri Detachment Marine Corps League; and was an avid fisherman and amateur photographer. Other survivors include two daughters, Nicole Renee Peters and her husband, Kenny, Joplin, MO; and Katie Elizabeth Barnes, Jefferson City; his grandmother, Hazel Corbin, Sturgeon, MO; two brothers, Alan Barnes, Centralia, MO; and Frank Barnes, Holts Summit, MO; two sisters and their husbands, Marilyn Kay and Dr. Robert Dye, Harrisburg, MO; and Sharilyn and Cory Unterseher, Columbia, MO; ten nieces; and one nephew. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be in Mt. Horeb Cemetery, Sturgeon, MO. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept 20th, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to an educational fund for his children at First Financial Credit Union, 3124 W.
