Viola Marie Gibson, 81, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Capital Region Medical Center.

 She was born on December 14, 1944, in LaJunta, Colorado, to Andrew Paul and Mary Regina (Kozlowski) Weigel.

She married Paul Michael Gibson, on February 16, 1974, in Monterey, California.  He preceded her in death on September 7, 2017.

Viola was a homemaker but in earlier years she worked as a certified nurse’s aide at St. Elizabeth Care Center.

A member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Viola served as an Eucharistic Minister.

She was a very creative person and liked art and crafts.  She liked to draw, do diamond art painting, read, crotchet, and needlepoint.  She created the most beautiful coloring pages using colored pencils, and enhanced the artwork by shading and using other techniques to produce a three-dimensional picture.

She is survived by a daughter, Virgeline Weigel (Ricky Ray), Holt Summit; a stepson, Justin Meizer, Colorado Springs, Colorado; five grandchildren, Justin (Valerie) Gabbard, Jessica (Charlie) Holtmeyer, Amanda Patterson, Mariah (Andrew) Holtmeyer, Rosemund Holtmeyer; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul; granddaughter, Oneika Hagendorf; a brother, Andrew Weigel; and two sisters, Dorothy (James) Hollister; and Esther (Douglas) Croft.

 Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 28, 2026, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki, VG officiating.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
