Virgil Nay Long, 74, formerly of Kansas City, died Sunday, March 5, 2006, at Ashland Health Care Center. He was born on March 13, 1931 in Manitowoc, WI, the son of Marshall Nay and Alma Long. He was married on June 16, 1956 in Jefferson City to Rosemary Josephine Stockman who survives in Jefferson City. A 1949 graduate of Manitowoc High School, Mr. Long was employed for several years with Elmer Stockman Construction Company. He later was employed for twenty years as a tool and die operator with ABB Company. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the American Legion. Other survivors include two sons and their wives, Kenneth and JoAnn Long, Eugene, MO; and Robert and Claudene Na Long, Eldon, MO; four daughters and one son-in-law, Susan Long, Jefferson City; Kathy Carter, Jefferson City; Lora and John Lodderhouse, St. Louis; and Amy Long, Hartsburg, MO; seventeen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Eugene Long, New Bloomfield, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Gloria Hecker. Services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert H. Fields officiating.
