  4. Mrs. Jones was the graduate advisor when I was initiated into Aloha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. at Lincoln University in 1966. I credit her astute guidance and tutelage for the woman, educator, mother and grandmother I’ve become. I was happy to witness her receiving recognition from the sorority after 75 years of service and participating in the effort to arrange her trip to Washington, DC for the sorority’s centennial celebration in 2008. I always looked forward to seeing her during Homecoming. I will truly miss her. Rest In Peace, beautiful lady. Ruth Ann Boles Newton, Alpha Iota 1966

  5. Eilene…..can’t thank you enough for the unselfish manner in which you have shared you Mother with hundreds of those who like me were initiated into the Alpha Iota Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated on the campus of Lincoln University. In my reflections I offer the following poem: “A Life Well Lived” A life well lived is a precious gift, Of hope and strength and grace, From someone who has made our world, A brighter better place. It’s filled with moments sweet and sad, With smiles and sometimes tears, With friendships formed and good times shared, And laughter through the years. A life well lived is a legacy, Of joy and pride and pleasure, A living, lasting memory Our grateful hearts will treasure! Author Unknown Mom Jones…..finally resting in that Sweet Peace that our Lord and Savior has prepared for you. I will cherish you always!

  6. My condolences to the Jones family. I pray GOd continues to comfort and strengthen the family during this time of bereavement. May the many cherished and loving memories of Vivian continue to comfort her family and friends. A comforting thought to keep in mind is at Revelation 21:4 “And he (GOD) will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain will be anymore. The former things have passed away.” May you all have calming and pleasant thoughts during this time.

  10. Condolences to the family of Vivian Dotson Jones. I have known Soror Vivian Jones for over 50 years. I met her through family while a student at LU; worked with her at LU; later became her Soror as I was initiated into Gamma Epsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Soror Vivian was instrumental in me becoming a member. I also attended and was a member of Second Baptist Church where she and her husband attended. Soror Vivian “Mrs. Jones” will be truly missed.

  11. Vivian: My deepest sympathy on the loss of your mother. When I visited my mother (Monica) at Oak Tree, I would often talk to your mom as they shared the same dining table at Oak Tree. She was always pleasant and smiled. She usually had a humorous quip or two. A good sense of humor! I always respected her being the assistant to so many LU presidents for so many years. She had to be a very strong and dedicated lady to transition through all those administrations. My condolences to you. Roger Bisges, son of Monica Bruemmer.

  12. Words cannot express the magnitude of the impact you had upon my life. Your grace, dignity, and elegance extended to me while a student at Lincoln, and beyond, are treasures that are forever etched in my heart.
