Vivian Mildred Zyla, 87, of Jefferson City, was called home Monday, August 31, 2009, at Adams Street Place, her loving home for the past three years. She was born on March 14, 1922, in Walnut, Ks, the daughter of William Raymond and Mary Elizabeth Colvin Hickman. She was united in marriage on November 15, 1942, in Jefferson City, to Paul Stanley Zyla who preceded her in death on April 29, 2002. A homemaker all her life, Vivian had worked for Obermans Manufacturing, Scholastic Inc., and as a seamstress. Vivian was a member of First Christian Church. She enjoyed quilting, painting, traveling, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include: four daughters and three sons-in-law, Sharon Zyla, Jefferson City; Paula and Joe Sedlock, Tracy, Iowa; Denise and Bill Thoenen, Holts Summit; Debbie and Alan Becker, Jefferson City; fifteen grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Gloria Lee Hollingsworth, Rolla, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Evelyn Barickman, Lorna Rose Hickman; and four brothers, Harold, Garnet, Gordon, and Phillip Hickman. Funeral services will be 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with Rev. Donald E. Carter officiating. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
