  1. I’m so sorry to hear about Walt Illston’s passing. I knew Walt from the years he and I worked for the Mo. Highway Dept. In the 1970’s to the early 1980’s. We were both computer programmers in the Surveys & Plans Dept. We became working friends which progressed to becoming good friends. Walt was very smart in mathematics and we always helped each other out when we had programming challenges. Walt also had a good sense of humor and we kidded each other a lot. Walt was a very good chess player and he taught me the game – we had a lot of great matches though he was always the better player. Walt was just a very friendly guy, and I enjoyed working with him at the Highway Dept. I left the Dept. In 1984, but Walt and I kept in touch for several years when we would meet for lunch occasionally. I knew both of Walt’s wives and felt so sorry for him when each one passed away when he was married to them. I will miss Walt very much and it was a pleasure for me to have known him. Please accept my condolences and may God rest his soul in heaven. Kerry Rowland

  2. I am so very sorry for your loss. Please find comfort in God’s sure promise of a resurrection as set forth in the Bible. (Acts 24:15; John 5:28,29) Those who are raised to life will have the prospect of never again being subjected to misery, sickness, or death. (Revelation 21:4) I hope that reflecting on these thoughts and your wonderful memories will give you some relief during this difficult time.
