WILBERT NIEKAMP

Wilbert Niekamp, 78, of Jefferson City, died Friday, May 6, 2005, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born on May 1, 1927 in Linn, MO, the son of Joseph and Anna Sybilla Berhorst Niekamp. He was married on Nov. 12, 1949 in Jefferson City to Helen Joretta Stuart who survives at the home. Mr. Niekamp was a 1946 graduate of St. Peter High School. He was a painting contractor for more than fifty years as owner of Niekamp-Owens Painting, Niekamp Painting, and most recently as Employee Coordinator for Rainbow Painting and Decorating, Inc., Jefferson City. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and its Perpetual Adoration program; and Painters Local No. 1185, Columbia. Other survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law, Michael and Vicky Niekamp, Jefferson City; Thomas and Diane Niekamp, Jefferson City; Mark and Barbara Niekamp, Holts Summit; and the Reverend Mr. Philip E. Niekamp, Jefferson City; one daughter, Connie A. Welschmeyer, Jefferson City; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Hilda Niekamp, Jefferson City; and two brothers-in-law, Ken Lackey, State of New Jersey; and Clarence Voss, Linn, MO. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Leoba Lackey; Mary Owens; Elizabeth Voss; and Wilma Niekamp. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2005, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Donald W. Lammers officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
