William Daniel Turner, 83, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, March 8, 2009, at St. Marys Health Center. He was born on Sept. 11, 1925, in Auxvasse, Mo., the son of Daniel and Ethel Neil Jennings Turner. He was married on Dec. 25, 1942, in Jefferson City to Zella Mae Steele who died on June 1, 1991. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Turner owned and operated Bill Turners Conoco Station at 401 East McCarty Street in Jefferson City for many years. Mr. Turner was a member of Jefferson Lodge No. 9, Free & Accepted Masons. Survivors include one sister and brother-in-law, Bertha M. and Joseph Blunt, Jefferson City; one brother, Robert W. Turner, Jefferson City; one sister-in-law, Anna Mae Turner, Jefferson City; one brother-in-law, Lawrence Barrett, Jefferson City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Nolan Turner; and two sisters, Mary Barrett and Betty Jane Hawkins. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2009, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with the Rev. Cornell C. Sudduth, Sr. Burial with military honors will be in Longview Cemetery. Visitation will be noon to 1:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donors choice.
