William H. Bill Brooks, 67, of New Bloomfield, died Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born January 5, 1941 in Newport, Arkansas to the late Roy and Mary Alice Brooks. He married Judith Anne McKeel on June 13, 1959; and they were blessed with three children: Bill Brooks, Jr. who resides in Wyoming, Minnesota with his wife Julie; Darlene Hopkins who lives in St. Louis with her husband Jeff; and Melanie Anne Brooks who died in infancy. Bill married Christa Brandt Pohl 30 years ago on October 22, 1977. Together they raised Lori Pohl Fry, who lives in St. Louis with her husband Adam. Bill enjoyed many years as a pilot of small aircraft and retained a life-long love of flying. He was a big fan of the World War II Women Aircraft Service Pilots (WASPs). Bill enjoyed fishing, traveling, reading, movies, and chocolate. Also, he was Christas number one fan at every one of her taekwondo tournaments. Bills pride and joy were his children and his 3 grandchildren: Kyle Brooks and Kaleigh Brooks of Wyoming, Minnesota and Ivan Imsland of St. Louis, Missouri. He is also survived by a sister, Suzie Pierce, Desha, Ark. Bill worked part-time at Preferred Family Healthcare. Previously, Bill spent many years as an accountant, serving both individuals and local businesses. Bill was active in Alcoholics Anonymous and thanked God daily for keeping him sober for 26 years. Bill and Christa attended Grace Evangelical Free Church. A private graveside service will be held for immediate family at Riverview Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Bills life and share memories at Grace Evangelical Free Church at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 9. It was Bills wish that everyone enjoy refreshments, especially lots of chocolate, in his honor. Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
