William Sylvester Hart, 81, of Lohman, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024, at his residence.

He was born August 18, 1942, in Brumley, Missouri, the son of Sarah L. (Phillips) Rutherford.

William served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.

He was united in marriage on March 22, 1968, in Jefferson City to Linda Jane Wunderlich who survives at the home.

William worked with his uncle building homes, worked as a roofer, was a truck driver hauling propane and concrete, and worked for Brady’s Glass Company in Jefferson City.

William was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church (Stringtown/Lohman). He enjoyed roller skating in his younger years and continued well into his 40’s, camping and boating, riding motorcycles, fishing, tinkering with anything, listening to Elvis Presley music (a favorite being “If I Can Dream”), and especially spending time with his son, Tony.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Hart, Lohman; one son, Tony (Marsha) Hart, St. Peters; one granddaughter, Chelsea (Aaron) Waters; four great-grandchildren, Capri Hart, Brixton Fink, Veda Waters, Marlo Waters; a sister, Bird Peck, Jefferson City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother; one sister, Melvadine Lampe; and four brothers, Jim Workman, Emery Workman, Leon Hart, and John Hart.

Visitation will be 10:30-11 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2024, at St. Johns’s Lutheran Church-Stringtown. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Brian Whittle officiating.

Burial with military honors will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery or to Operation Bugle Boy – Jefferson City.
