He was born in Mexico, MO to Herman and Ervie Mae Yostmayer Holtkamp. He married Catherine C. Welschmeyer on December 31, 1943 in Camp Blanding, Florida. She survives at the home. Other survivors include a son, Robert Holtkamp, Jefferson City; four daughters, Marilyn Nowell-Bown, Park City, UT; Janet Pack, Columbia, MO; Carol Ward, Muscatine, IA; and Christine Rackers, Jefferson City, MO; seven grandchildren; one brother, Herman A. Holtkamp, Fulton, MO; and two step-sisters, Pauline Pettry, Dunedin, FL and Ellen Phelps, Kirland, WA. He retired in 1986 as Research and Management Analyst from the Missouri Division of Employment Security where he had been employed for 28 years. He worked previously for AP Green Fire Brick Company in Mexico, MO. He was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral; St. Joseph Men's Association; American Legion Post #5, Jefferson City, MO; and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2693, Jefferson City, MO. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Cathedral, 2305 W. Main St. Jefferson City, MO 65109 or to the American Cancer Society, 2413 Hyde Park Rd. Jefferson City, MO 65109. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of Mexico High School and graduated in 1949 from the University of Missouri.
