William James Kauffman, 84, of Jefferson City, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at St. Marys Health Center. He was born on March 26, 1920 in Jefferson City, the son of Leo J. Kauffman and Margaret Hentges Kauffman. He was married on May 4, 1943 in Folk to Leona Bernadine Rademann who died on March 17, 1991. He was married on June 5, 1992 in Jefferson City to Helen M. Brondel Eggen who survives at the home. Other survivors include three sons and one daughter-in-law, Thomas A. Tom Kauffman, Bonnots Mill; Richard L. Dick and Ronda Kauffman, Jefferson City; and Kenneth W. Ken Kauffman, Jefferson City; one daughter and son-in-law, Harriet Kauffman Martin, and Van Martin, Miami, Fla; five step-daughters and husbands, Mary Beth and Bill Morff, Wildwood, MO; LaVonne and Steve Kaiser, Houston, TX; Jeanette and Bill Muller, and Elaine and David DeWitt, all of Jefferson City; and Gloria and Bob Caine, Richland, Wash.; twenty-one grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Francis Kauffman; and one sister, Angeline Kauffman. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. James M. Smith officiating. Burial will be in St. Martin Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, 3210 N. Ten Mile Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65109 (893-5251) with the Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic Church, 216 Broadway, Jefferson City, MO 65101; or St. Martin Catholic Church, 7148 St. Martins Ave., Jefferson City, MO 65109. Mr. Kauffman was a farmer in Cole county for many years and also a musician with local country bands. He became a real estate broker and investor owning JC Realty Company and Kauffman Investment Properties until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church; St. Peter Catholic Church; Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2693; Knights of Columbus; Holy Name Society; and St. Martin Fifty-plus Club.
