William Wallace Rauschelbach

William “Bill” Rauschelbach, 81, of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Jefferson City, beloved father of Rhonda Sarrazin and Jerry Rauschelbach died at the home of his son and daughter-in-law on March 7, 2020, in Kansas City, Missouri.
Bill born on August 31, 1938, in Winslow, Arizona. He was a 1956 graduate of Jefferson City High School and attended Northeast Missouri State University (Truman State).
After college, Bill enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.
On January 10, 1960, he was united in marriage to Doris Ann Dulle, also of Jefferson City, Missouri.
Bill became a bookkeeper for the Kansas City Stockyard Company, returning on weekends to Jefferson City to be with his wife and children. In the summer of 1962, Bill and his family relocated to Washington D.C. where Bill was the bookkeeper for the Golden Ox Restaurant in Washington. He rose through the company to become the general manager of the restaurant. In the summer of 1978, Bill returned to Kansas City with his family where he become the general manager of the Golden Ox. Bill later became the owner of the Golden Ox restaurant and the Livestock Exchange Building in 1991.
In December of 1982, after the death of Arthur Bryant, Bill was approached to operate Arthur Bryant’s Barbeque located at 1727 Brooklyn Avenue. In March of 1983, Bill and his management team re-opened the legendary barbeque restaurant and he operated it until his death.
In 1993, Bill’s personal legacy was sealed when he repurchased the original 100 acres of the old Rauschelbach family farm in Tebbetts, Missouri, fulfilling a promise he had made to his grandfather when he was 6 years old. Bill has since grown the farm to almost 700 acres of quality river bottom land.
Bill fell in love with Florida in the mid 1990’s and became a year-round resident in the early 2000’s, living in Bonita Springs, Florida, where he spent many years with his current wife Frances Christensen-Rauschelbach. On Sunday, April 6, 2020, the family will hold a memorial in his honor in Bonita Springs, Florida at the Barefoot Beach Club, where Bill was a founding member and past board member.
He is preceded in death by his mother Ruby Rauschelbach-Hull and his father Pat, who died when he was very young; a sister Patricia Middlebrook of Bethesda, Maryland; and Jay B. Dillingham, a friend, long time mentor and father figure.
He will be forever cherished by his children Rhonda (Victor) Sarrazin of Middletown, New York, Jerry (Diane) Rauschelbach of Kanas City, Missouri; grandchildren: Conor (Callie) Rauschelbach, Overland Park, Kansas, Parker Rauschelbach, Kansas City, Missouri, Elizabeth Czernik, Tucson Arizona, Benjamin (Kimberly Bitter) Czernik, Olathe, Kansas, and Rebekah Czernik of New York, New York; great-granddaughters, Jana Czernik of Olathe, Kansas and Ryann of Overland Park Kansas; and sister, Martha Hunter of Merced, California.
Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2020, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 10 a.m.
Following the service, Bill will be entombed on his farm.
In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage donations in the name of William Rauschelbach to be made to the American Lung Association.
Lastly, the family would like to thank Cindy Pyles for her unbelievable effort in caring for dad in his home for the last 8 months and up to the last week of his life. The family cannot express in words what her efforts must have been in caring for dad during some very tumultuous and difficult times. Cindy, thank you, you will forever be a part of our family.

we grew up together in Jefferson City, I remember those days well. Many good memories. My sympathy in his loss.
I met Bill in 1961, and my wife and I were friends of Bill and Doris and children to this date. I worked with Bill for many years, and he and Doris will be greatly missed.
Condolences to the family. I am a Cottages neighbor of Fran and Bill. Memory: Saying hi to Bill when he’d be at the counter having lunch.
I am not good at this kind of thing but I could not help but trying to say a few good things about my dear friend ( Bill ).Don’t hold me to be exact on times and places. I first met my good friend in the sixth grade and he was playing ball at West School in J. C. I also met Bill’s Mother who once cooked dinner for Bill and I and she ask me if I liked liver. Of course trying to be polite I said yes. I hated liver but I ate every thing she brought out. Bill remained my friend through grade school and on into high school and was active in sports and played on both the High School basketball team as an outstanding center for Jeff city Jays and the football team Lettering in both sports. When we graduated from High S. the draft was on and no one would hire you if you did not have your military out of the way, so Bill along with Jerry Tobin, John Earlywine, Jim Eppeneuer all decided to join the MARINES for an active tour of 2 yrs. We did not want to go to the Air Force or Navy because they were 4 yrs.and none wanted to go to the Army. Bill and I were both stationed at Camp Pendleton in California. We pull liberty together several time and had great times fighting battles on the beaches of Southern California. Ha Ha. After service Bill went on to be successful in the Rest Bus. as well as other successful ventures. Bill always talked of wanting to be successful in life and he certainly did that. I can honestly state that Bill was a fine person and I’m happy to have known him all these years. After recently meeting his family he was successful at that also.
