WILLIE FRANCIS "BILL" YANCEY

Willie Francis Bill Yancey, 81, of Holts Summit, died Friday, April 8, 2005, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born on Oct. 9, 1923 in Izard County, Ark., the son of Alvy Leonard and Zannie Pierson Yancey. He was married on April 25, 1953 in Jackson, Mich. to Virginia May Hager who survives at the family home. A graduate of Violet Hill, Ark. High School, he was employed as a machinist with Clark Equipment Company in Jackson, Mich. for thirty-three years until his retirement on May 1, 1981. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving with Pattons Third Army in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Czechoslovakia, the Battle of the Bulge, and earned three bronze stars and a bronze star medal. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Holts Summit; Veterans of Foreign Wars; and the American Legion. Other survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Rose Yancey, Richland, Mich.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen and Louis Burns, Granite Bay, Calif.; and Brenda Novak, Pittsburgh, Penn.; eight grandchildren, Emily Burns; Claire Burns; William Burns; Kristi Novak; Morgan Taber; David Yancey; Margaret Yancey; and Joseph Yancey; one brother and sister-in-law, Reynolds and Mary Yancey, Jackson, Mich.; and one sister, Ella Mae Hanks, Rogers, Ark. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jessie Yancey. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, 3210 N. Ten Mile Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65109 (893-5251), with the Rev. Brendan P. Doyle officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
